Flitwick Concrete Pour - FAQs
With over 20 years of experience supplying concrete across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas, the Custom Concrete team is on hand to offer clear, practical advice to help your pour go to plan. Below are some of the most common questions we hear from customers in Flitwick before their concrete delivery.
Your site will need firm, level ground and sufficient space for safe access. Our 8-wheel volumetric concrete lorries are around 10 metres long and approximately 2.5 metres wide. If access to your property is limited – such as narrow village roads, tight driveways, or rear-only access – our concrete pump hire service can make placement easier and help keep disruption on site to a minimum.
Yes. One of the key advantages of volumetric concrete is that it’s mixed on-site, allowing our operators to fine-tune the mix as needed. This can be useful if site conditions change or if different parts of your project require different specifications. You only pay for the concrete you use, with no surplus to dispose of.
Concrete begins to set fairly quickly, but full curing takes longer. In most cases, light foot traffic is fine after 24–48 hours, while heavier loads or further building work should be delayed for at least 7 days. Concrete typically reaches its full strength after around 28 days, so curing time should be built into your project schedule.
Absolutely. We supply concrete for everything from large builds to small DIY and garden projects. With no minimum order charge, we’re ideal for jobs such as shed bases, garden paths, patio slabs, and fence post footings. Because the concrete is mixed on-site, you receive exactly the amount you need, helping to reduce waste and unnecessary costs.
Light rain usually won’t be an issue, but heavier rainfall can affect the final mix if not managed correctly. Our experienced operators can adjust the mix on-site to suit the weather conditions, helping ensure the finished concrete remains strong and durable.
