Residential Concrete Delivery

How to Prepare for a Residential Site Mixed Concrete Delivery

Custom Concrete delivers volumetric concrete to customers, no matter the size or location of the job. Many of the deliveries we make, therefore, are to residential properties. We know how important a prompt and efficient concrete delivery is to our customers who may have a team of helpers waiting to get to work.  So, we think it is worth running through the ways in which you can prepare for a residential concrete delivery.

The Size of a Volumetric Concrete Truck

It helps to know the size of the on-site mixing truck which will arrive with your concrete as it needs to be able to approach the property, get close proximity to the concrete drop, and manoeuvre. When calculating access, bear in mind that our trucks need a clearance area on both sides of the vehicle.

Our volumetric concrete trucks are 10 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 4 metres high.

Accessing Your Property

Our truck will need to get as close as possible to where you need the concrete poured. The two challenges we most frequently face in residential locations are parked cars and driveway gates:

  • Parked Cars. It is worth checking whether there is a time during the day when there are less cars parked up. We can deliver at the time that is most convenient.
  • Driveway Gates. These make the entry to your property narrower. If you check in the access in advance, we know how close we can get to the site.

Should it prove difficult to get onto your property, we suggest Custom Concrete pump hire. This provides an extension pipe that reaches from the truck to the area where you need the concrete poured.

Potential Height Obstacles

We ask residential customers to let us know if there are any potential overhead obstacles, such as trees or telephone cables. It is rare that these cause a problem, but if the Custom Concrete team know there is the chance of a hazard that may delay delivery, we will look for ways to solve it before we arrive on site. That way, your project stays on track.

Can We Manoeuvre?

Volumetric trucks need room to manoeuvre when accessing your property. If you live on a cul-de-sac, or a traffic calming route, this can make it hard for us to get in and out of your driveway safely. If you can let us know about the layout of your road when you make your order, we will prepare our route ensuring that no cars or property are damaged in the course of the delivery.
