Buckinghamshire Concrete Pour - FAQs
With more than 20 years’ experience supplying concrete throughout Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties, Custom Concrete is here to support your project with clear, practical advice. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions from customers across Buckinghamshire ahead of their concrete delivery.
Your site will need stable, level ground and unobstructed access for our vehicle. Our volumetric concrete lorries are approximately 10 metres long and 2.5 metres wide. If your site is difficult to reach – for example, due to narrow rural roads, tight access points, or restricted driveways – our concrete pump hire service can help ensure smooth and accurate placement of the concrete.
Yes. Because volumetric concrete is mixed at your site, our operators can make real-time adjustments to the mix, whether that’s changing the strength class or the consistency. This is ideal if site conditions change or if your project requires multiple mix types. You’ll only receive (and pay for) the amount of concrete you actually use.
Although concrete will begin to harden within hours, it needs time to reach full strength. As a rule of thumb, you can allow light foot traffic after 24–48 hours. Structural work or heavier loads should be delayed for at least 7 days. Full curing typically takes around 28 days, so this should be allowed for when planning your build programme.
Yes – we cater for everything from large commercial pours to small domestic and DIY projects. With no minimum order requirement, we’re ideal for jobs like garden paths, shed bases, footings, and patio foundations. Our volumetric system ensures you only receive the quantity you need, reducing waste and keeping costs under control.
Light rain generally isn’t an issue, but heavier downpours can affect the final mix if not properly managed. Our experienced drivers can adjust the mix on-site to suit the conditions, helping to maintain the quality and durability of your concrete.
